Argentinian writer Julio Cortazar was born 100 years ago today!

"We went around without looking for each other, but knowing we went around to find each other."
—from “Hopscotch” (1963)

Cortázar was a novelist, short story writer, and essayist. Known as one of the founders of the Latin American Boom, Cortázar influenced an entire generation of writers in the Americas and Europe. He has been called both a “modern master of the short story” and, by Carlos Fuentes, “the Simón Bolívar of the novel.” To celebrate the 100th anniversary of Cortazar’s birth his books are available for the first time in the U.S. as eBooks, and as an Everyman’s Library hardcover omnibus.
